Beautiful Stays: Splendid isolation in Heather the Hut, Rosedale

I was over the moon when the owner of the beautiful Heather-the-Hut approached me with collaboration offer. Rosedale has long been one of my huge loves, a rare tranquil gem in North York Moors, a place to explore more. And this hut – just how cute is she? I fell completely head over the hills with love from the first sight.

There is a charming story about Heather (before she had a name). She was built 10 years ago by Jonathan’s father, a qualified engineer, as a hand-crafted caravan. As Jonathan’s father styled her on  Romani wagon, Heather is made from wood, and has a beautiful curved ceiling.

Jonathan, a travel industry expert, started working on Heather in furlough. Jonathan had an idea of restoring Heather as shepherd’s hut and finding a nice spot for her. Jonathan made the hut more guest friendly over 6 months, building a comfortable bed and a new shower, and found a perfect place at the beginning of Rosedale, in a vast field , next to a lovely area of pine woods, with amazing sweeping views towards Pickering and Yorkshire Wolds.

Johnathan’s dream is to showcase the craftsmanship of his father and reveal the beauty and tranquillity of Rosedale to the world. Jonathan aims to develop new, sustainable, and responsible methods of travelling. All objects in Heather-the-Hut are either restored or handmade from natural materials.

There are too many things I want to say about Heather, so just 10:

Picture 1 : The bestest thing: Heather is located in a wonderful isolated spot, where you can truly escape the world. There is no one and nothing around for miles, but views. But there is 4G!

2. Heather is made from wood, so cool even on a hot day (confirmed in this hot weather).

3. Beautiful features and design, like this original oil lamp, restored.

4. Log burner stove, as well as outside log burner

5. Lovely hot shower

6. Cooker to brew a cuppa and cook simple things.

7. Excellent host who treasures comments from visitors above anything else. Super Host on Airbnb

8. Loo with a view

9. Woodland Walk

10. Pace and tranquility
